Hi! Katherine here, owner and founder of Hot Dang Press. You may know me as the artist behind the greeting cards at Party Sally. I'm thrilled to be starting a new venture in Hot Dang Press, and I've roped in my spouse Ben to join this rodeo as my second in command.

The idea for Hot Dang Press began as a way to make creative Christmas presents for everyone in our family. We cut out sprinkles, eyes, and monograms by hand and ironed them on colorful sweatshirts, and we had so much fun doing it. It was lo-fi, easy, and best of all, inexpensive. What we didn’t realize at the time was that this idea could also be a solution for textile waste.

Both Katherine and Ben have experience with making custom merch, be it t-shirts, hats, bandanas, or totes. But we’d always run into the same problem - in order to justify costs, you have to print large runs and estimate the demand for different sizes, colors, styles, etc. We’d make a cute shirt but be left with 12 XS t-shirts and 10 XXL sweatshirts that no one was ever going to need. We felt the sting of that waste, and we only did minimum print runs. Imagine the scale of waste happening with your go-to graphic t-shirt companies. 

After noodling on this concept for nearly 5 years, we felt our idea was solid: provide the art for the thing, not the end thing. You don’t need a new thing; you need to make your things feel new. Or if you do need a new thing, you know the size and style and color you want. We encourage you to thrift!
